UCERT

WHAT IS ISO 22301?

  • ISO 22301 is a Business Continuity Management System Standard published in October 2019.
  • Its aim is to ensure the continuous/uninterrupted operation of an organization, or at least the fastest possible (within a specified timeframe) recovery of its operation, during anticipated extreme or non-extreme events.
  • It proposes controls based on business continuity best practices, covering the entire life cycle of a Business Continuity Management System and minimizing any risk of disruption to the organization’s operations.

WHO CAN USE THIS STANDARD?

This standard is flexible and can be adapted to a wide range of Organizations operating in any country, such as:

  • Large organizations
  • Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)
  • Public and private sector organizations

However, it is particularly suitable for organizations operating in high-risk environments, such as financial institutions, telecommunications, transportation and the public sector, as they aim to satisfy customers and generally every interested party.

HOW WILL THIS STANDARD BENEFIT AN ORGANIZATION?

This standard benefits an Organization by providing:

  • Preventive improvement in its flexibility to ensure its ability to operate, or to resume its operations, in the event of an outage, to a tolerable level and time period, as set by the Organization.
  • Minimization of losses in the event of termination.
  • Protection and improvement of its name and reputation, promoting trust in its transactions with customers and/or businesses.
  • Competitive advantage in new target markets and recognition of new opportunities.
  • Correct implementation of legislative, standard and regulatory provisions.
